Tess covered the basics of grief support groups in her post for April 3rd, including an article that went over a sample of how they function, which can be found here.
Tess noted: "In the play, Howie spends a lot of his time at a support group for grieving parents, while Becca can't stand coming with him." I completely agree with this statement; Howie found the support group valuable for a significant amount of time, while Becca vehemently protests its usefulness.
As such, I went looking for reactions to grief support groups, to see if Becca and Howie's experiences were more or less equally common. This article includes the "positives and pitfalls" of such groups. It also has a comments section, which contains people agreeing or disagreeing with the points, or elaborating with personal experiences. Personally, this together with Tess' piece was a nice addition to give a sort of 'what's the impact' view on the topic of grief support groups.
For 17 April.
